- Department: Data & Analytics, Digital Excellence Center (DEC), Sun Group 

- Reports to: Head of Data & Analytics 

- Location: Hanoi, Vietnam 

I. Role Summary/Objective: The Lead/Senior Data Scientist is responsible for developing and deploying advanced analytical models and machine learning solutions to extract actionable insights from customer data, primarily from the Loyalty system and CDP. This role will drive personalization efforts, optimize loyalty program performance, support strategic decisions for the airline, and champion data-driven innovation within the team and across relevant business units. 

II. Key Responsibilities: 

- Design, develop, train, and deploy machine learning models for diverse use cases, including customer segmentation, churn prediction, lifetime value estimation, propensity modeling (e.g., for airline bookings or ancillary purchases), recommendation engines, and fraud detection. 

- Analyze large, complex datasets to identify significant patterns, trends, and insights that can inform business strategy and improve customer experience. 

- Collaborate with stakeholders (Product Owners, Marketing, airline business teams) to understand business problems, define analytical objectives, and translate findings into actionable recommendations. 

- Develop A/B testing frameworks and analyze experiment results to evaluate the effectiveness of models and data-driven initiatives. 

- Work closely with Data Engineers to access, prepare, and productionize data for modeling, and to deploy models into operational systems. 

- Monitor the performance of deployed models and iterate/retrain them as needed to maintain accuracy and relevance. 

- Communicate complex analytical concepts and results clearly and effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences. 

- Stay current with the latest advancements in data science, machine learning, and AI, and explore their potential application to Group challenges. 

- Potentially mentor junior data scientists or analysts as the team grows. 

III. Key Requirements: 

- Master's or Ph.D. in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Economics, or a related quantitative field. 

- Minimum 5-7+ years of experience applying data science and machine learning techniques to solve real-world business problems, preferably in customer analytics, loyalty, e-commerce, or airline domains. 

- Strong expertise in statistical modeling, machine learning algorithms, and experimental design. 

- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or R, and familiarity with relevant libraries and frameworks (e.g., Scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch, Spark MLlib). 

- Experience with data manipulation and analysis tools (SQL, Pandas, Spark). 

- Experience with model deployment and MLOps practices is a plus. 

- Excellent problem-solving, critical thinking, and communication skills. 

- Ability to work independently and lead analytical projects.
